Lost Art: Vol. 2: Arbor Day Illustrations

This one was a truly sad loss for me. I’m not particularly skilled at illustrating but I got an iPad Pro last year because I wanted to work on sharpening my skills in that area a bit.

When the social media team asked me to put together an Instagram Story for Arbor Day I was stoked on the idea of attempting to illustrate it! I spent the better part of a week taking an online class to learn all the ins and outs of Procreate. The illustrations themselves probably took between 2-3 hours each. I was actually pretty stoked on how they come out! But in the end, they double booked Arbor Day with World Penguin Day and my story NEVER RAN. I even went to the trouble of animating some of the illustrations, it was super sad to see them die like that.

The good news is, that’s exactly what this blog series is for. So here they are, for the first time ever!

And here are a few of my favorite illustrations up close, just for fun. (I spent a ton of time shading and adding details, so I think they deserve a close-up look).

Thanks for taking a peek! As always, share links to any projects you’ve lost to the ether in the comments below.
